- 150 Years - Archaeological Museum AUB (2018, 16’, Philippe Aractingi, English/Arabic sub.)
The Archaeological Museum of the American University of Beirut is the third oldest museum in the Near East, after Cairo and Constantinople. This film takes us on a long journey of the 150-year History of the Museum, to tell us the story of its foundation in 1868, the evolution of its collections, the role of its eight curators and its major achievements. This documentary is sponsored by the Society of the Friends of the Museum.
يحتلّ متحف الآثار في الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت المركز الثالث كأقدم متحف في الشرق الأدنى، بعد مصر والقسطنطينية. يأخذنا هذا الفيلم في رحلة طويلة حول تاريخ المتحف الممتدّ على 150 عامًا، ليخبرنا قصّة إنشائه في العام 1868، وتطوّر مجموعاته، والدور الذي لعبه كلّ من أمنائه الثمانية وأبرز الإنجازات التي شهدها. ساهمت في إنجاز هذا الوثائقيّ "جمعية أصدقاء المتحف".
- La Bataille du cèdre (2018, 52’, Laurent Sorcelle, French/Arabic sub.)
This film is about a lifetime project of Lebanese people dedicated to save the famous cedars tree forest of Becharreh. The film showcases environmental, historical and cultural issues all around and inside the cedars forest. It is the story of a determined person who succeeds and achieves his goal in a country where environmental issues are not often dealt with.
يدور هذا الفيلم حول مشروع حياة تبنّاه لبنانيّون كرّسوا أنفسهم لإنقاذ وحماية غابة الأرز الشهيرة في بشرّي. لكنّه لا يتناول هذه المسألة البيئية، بل التاريخية والثقافية، المتعلّقة بمحيط غابة الأرز وداخلها فحسب، بل يحكي قصّة حول صلابة إرادة الإنسان وكيف أنّ تصميم المرء وعزمه يمكّناه من تحقيق هدفه في بلد لا تُعار فيه المسائل البيئية اهتمامًا في أغلب الأحيان.
